Warm up feedback

After leading our peer led warm up my group was given back feed back regarding our strong delivery and getting the classes attention, our consideration to health and safety by asking the students to wear bare feet to prevents slips in the physical warm up. We were good at keeping the class engaged throughout with different and interactive ways of warming up all the body mind and voice.

Some group advise we were given was to introduce games that involved more skill development, I agree with this as one of the games we played “splat categories” is one we’ve played in class before so the students have already learnt the skills involved with that game. Another piece of group advice was to explain the purpose of the different sections of the warm up, I started with the physical warm up and explained the benefits of warming up our muscles for safe practice whilst performing but if we were to undertake it again I would make sure the students know the purpose of what they’re doing such as vocal warm ups so they can introduce accents and create a full vocal range easier and the purpose for the one minute in the spot speaking game was so students get used to being put plunder pressure in situations there new in and be able to speak confidently, this skill is key to any audition or interview that can help in later life!

  1. Good Caitlin, you have discussed the features of Horton and Ailey and gathered some research and video clips to help develop your understanding. Can you add to this by discussing the following:

    1. What are your thoughts on the technique and key features of Horton and how can it help improve and develop dancers form and your form specifically?
    2. Please include your research sources, list the websites accessed to gather information.
Please complete this by the end of Thursday.

  2. Good start Caitlin, and I’m glad you have reflected on feedback given by me, can you develop this into more of an evaluation of your facilitation of the warm up, identifying your strengths and weaknesses and skills demonstrated, with a target for further development.
